While plaster casts not only occupy a dominant place in the university collections in classical archeology and have accordingly been processed, the same does not apply to casts based on models from the Near East. This book is the first to introduce these copies, how they were made, and their history. They have been collected by museums and collections of classical archeology at universities since the middle of the 19th century. The study lists more than 40 collections with over 400 plaster casts.
