Description
This dataset contains census, election, and vital statistics data for 118 British and Irish counties for the period 1851 to 1966. The information was collected by Michael Hechter, The University of Washington, and used in his study of regional integration and development in Great Britain in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Included among the variables are indicators of population change, ethnic composition, partisan political tendencies, literacy, and employment patterns of the population of each of the counties recorded for eleven time points across the period.
